What amount of BOD indicates high water pollution?

(a) 4000mg/liter

(b) 400mg/liter

(c) 40mg/liter

(d) 4mg/liter

The question was posed to me during an interview for a job.

My query is from Environmental Issues in chapter Environmental Issues of Biology – Class 12

Right option is (a) 4000mg/liter

For explanation I would say: BOD is the dissolved oxygen is utilized by microbes in decomposing the organic wastes of water. When the amount of BOD is more than equal to 4000mg/liter, it indicates high water pollution.
