For common emitter configuration, which of the following is the correct relation?

(a) IC < IE

(b) IC = βIB

(c) IC = αIE

(d) IC = IE

I had been asked this question in an interview.

My question is based upon BJT Configuration in chapter BJT Biasing of Analog Circuits

The correct answer is (d) IC = IE

For explanation I would say: All the relations hold true i.e. IC = βIB and IC = αIE. As  α<1, hence IC < IE.
