Which of the following has to be computed to determine transmittance and absorbance at various frequencies?

I had been asked this question in an interview.

My question is taken from Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectrometers in chapter Colorimetry and Spectrometry of Analytical Instrumentation

Right choice is (b) Ratio of sample and reference spectra

The explanation: The ratio of sample and reference spectra needs to be computed to determine transmittance and absorbance. First, reference interferogram is obtained and then the sample is obtained.
