If the oxygen content is not greater than 21%, which of the following gases must be used to set the span point?

(a) Oxygen

(b) Dry air

(c) Nitrogen

(d) Hydrogen

This question was posed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My doubt is from Paramagnetic Oxygen Analyser topic in section Industrial Gas Analysers of Analytical Instrumentation

The correct answer is (b) Dry air

Explanation: If the oxygen content is not greater than 21%, dry air is used to set the span point. This is done for calibration purposes.
