What is porting?

(a) Drilling extra ports in the cylinder

(b) Resizing and reshaping of the intake port

(c) Resizing and reshaping for spark plug

(d) Drilling additional port for spark plug

I got this question by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

I want to ask this question from IC Engine topic in section Design of IC Engine Components of Automotive Engine Design

Right choice is (b) Resizing and reshaping of the intake port

To elaborate: Porting is the application of resizing and reshaping of intake ports so that the charge doesn’t strike the wall and ensuring the flow of charge is smooth.
