I have been asked this question in semester exam.

This is a very interesting question from IC Engine topic in section Design of IC Engine Components of Automotive Engine Design

Correct option is (b) Circular

The best I can explain: Pushrods are a hollow tube made by duralumin metal with a circular cross-section which results in a reduction of weight and high strength.
