I had been asked this question during a job interview.

My doubt stems from Components of Water Cooling System in section Cooling System of Automotive Engine Design

Right choice is (a) 12v DC Motor

For explanation I would say: The pump works on a 12v DC motor which can be controlled by the engine management system so that precise temperature can be maintained.
