On which side of the oil pump is the surface filter installed?

(a) Inlet

(b) Outlet

(c) Transfer

(d) Intermediate

The correct choice is (a) Inlet

The best I can explain: The surface filter is installed on the inlet side of the oil pump.Whereas the secondary filter is installed on the outlet side of the oil pump and since the impurities in this are retained progressively along with the depth of the filter material, it is also called depth filter.
