Crude oil is subjected to which distillation process?

(a) Fractional distillation

(b) Steam distillation

I had been asked this question by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My doubt stems from Fuels topic in chapter Fuels, Intake System & Leakage Preventers of Automotive Engine Design

Correct choice is (a) Fractional distillation

The best explanation: Crude oil distillation is done in the Fractional column. Crude oil is heated to about 400^oC in a fractional distillation column. Above this temperature, different fuels like petrol, diesel, and kerosene are extracted.
