Calculate the energy in the 10 ohm resistance in 10 seconds.

This question was addressed to me during an interview.

My question comes from Energy topic in section Simple DC Networks of Basic Electrical Engineering

Right choice is (b) 40kJ

The best I can explain: Since the resistors are connected in parallel, the voltage across both the resistors are the same, hence we can use the expression P=V^2/R. P=200^2/10= 4000W. E=Pt = 4000*10=40000Ws = 40000J = 40kJ.
