Find the value of IL if IC=10A and IR=6A.

The question was posed to me in an interview.

I'm obligated to ask this question of Simple Parallel Circuits in chapter Single-Phase Parallel Networks of Basic Electrical Engineering

Correct choice is (a) 4A

To explain I would say: I is the total current in the circuit. Since this is a parallel connection, the total current in the circuit is equal to the sum of the currents in each branch of the circuit. Hence I=IC+IR.

10=IC+6   =>   IC=4A.
