Which of the following operations in the production of castings gives rise to excessive noise in the foundry?

Right answer is (b) Shakeout

For explanation I would say: In foundries during the production of castings, operations like dressing, fettling and shakeout give rise to significant noise levels with potentially adverse effects on the hearing of foundry workers. Shakeout operation basically includes extraction of casting from the mould cavity by using a vibrating plate which is the main source of noise in the foundry.
