I have been asked this question in a job interview.

This intriguing question comes from Genetic Code in chapter Gene Expression : Translation of Cytogenetics

Right option is (c) 256

For explanation: There are 4 DNA bases and triplet coodon so number of possible combinations id 4^3=64. Now if the codon was quadruplet the combinations would be 4^4=256.
