Which one of the following will be an example of organic diluents?

(a) Starch

(b) Dicalcium phosphate

(c) Tetracycline

(d) Tween 80

The question was posed to me by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

My question is taken from Dosage Form Factors Affecting Drug Absorption topic in division Absorption of Drugs of Drug Biotechnology

The correct answer is (a) Starch

To explain: Tween 80 is a solubilizer. Dicalcium phosphate and tetracycline are inorganic diluents. Starch is organic diluents. Diluents are added to tablets if the required dosage is inadequate to produce necessary bulk.
