How many NOT gates are required for the construction of a 4-to-1 multiplexer?

(a) 3

(b) 4

(c) 2

(d) 5

This question was addressed to me in homework.

My question is taken from Multiplexers (Data Selectors) in chapter Combinational Circuits of Digital Circuits

Right choice is (c) 2

To explain I would say: There are two NOT gates required for the construction of 4-to-1 multiplexer. x0, x1, x2 and x3 are the inputs and C1 and C0 are the select lines and M is the output.
