Which is easier to implement and is preferred?

(a) Coherent system

(b) Non coherent system

(c) Coherent & Non coherent system

(d) None of the mentioned

This question was addressed to me in an interview for internship.

My question is based upon Equalization and Non Coherent Detection in portion Baseband Demodulation and Detection of Digital Communications

The correct answer is (b) Non coherent system

To explain: A non coherent system is desirable because there may be difficulty is establishing and maintaining a coherent reference.
