What form of force acts on the blades of Darrieus machine?

I had been asked this question by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

The question is from Vertical Axis Wind Mill topic in division Wind Energy of Energy Engineering

Correct option is (a) Pure tension

Easy explanation: Darrieus wind mill has two or three thin, curved blades with airfoil cross section and constant chord length. Both ends of blades are attached to a vertical shaft. Thus the force in the blade due to rotation is pure tension.
