A 20mm line, drawn on the drawing sheet represents an actual length of 5m. What is the representative factor?

(a) 1:2.5

(b) 1:25

(c) 25:1

(d) 1:250

Right option is (d) 1:250

To explain I would say: The formula for calculating the representative factor is the length of the drawing divided by the actual length of the object. Hence for this example, R.F = 20 ÷ 5000 i.e. 1:250. The units of the quantities in the formula must be the same.
