What is the length of the scale?

(a) 7 feet

(b) 7 inches

(c) 8 feet

(d) 8 inches

I had been asked this question at a job interview.

My question is from Plane Scales topic in section Scales of Engineering Drawing

Correct answer is (d) 8 inches

Easy explanation: The length of the scale is calculated as, length of the scale = representative fraction x maximum length to be measured. Hence length of the scale = 1 ÷ 12 x 8 x 12 = 8 inches. While calculating, the units are to be noted.
