I had been asked this question in unit test.

I would like to ask this question from Alignment Tests on Milling Machine topic in section Machine Tool Metrology of Engineering Metrology

Right option is (d) End play

To explain I would say: Another name of the axial play is end play. End play is important especially on machines of high speed and it should be within the prescribed limits. It is the freedom of spindle moving in axial direction.
