Does the following discrete system have the parameter of memory, y[n] = x[n-1] + x[n] ?

(a) Yes

(b) No

I had been asked this question by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

Right answer is (a) Yes

Explanation: y[n] depends upon x[n-1], i.e at the earlier time instant, thus forcing the system to have memory.
