What is the number of chromosomes present in an oocyte?

I got this question in an online interview.

My enquiry is from Cell in section Cell : The Unit of Life of Biology – Class 11

Right option is (b) 23

To explain I would say: A single human cell has approximately two metre long thread of DNA. This DNA is distributed among its forty-six (twenty-three pairs) chromosomes. Since, the oocyte is haploid, it contains 23 chromosomes.
