Number of solutions of the equation x+0y-4=0 are?

(b) Three

(c) Infinite

(d) Two

I had been asked this question by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

The origin of the question is Equations of Lines Parallel to x-axis and y-axis topic in division Linear Equations in Two Variables of Mathematics – Class 9

Right option is (c) Infinite

The explanation: Since the given equation is in two variables x and y and coefficient of y is 0, solutions of this equation are: (x, y) = (4, 0), (4, 1), (4, 2), …… (4, r) where r is any real number. You can see that solution only have to satisfy the value of x and it true for any real value of y. Thus the given equation has infinite solutions.
