Find the equation of line parallel to 4x+y=2 and pass through (2, 5).

(a) 4x+y-13=0

(b) 4x+y+13=0

(c) 4x-y-13=0

(d) 4x-y+13=0

I got this question during an interview.

I'd like to ask this question from Distance of a Point from a Line in division Straight Lines of Mathematics – Class 11

The correct choice is (a) 4x+y-13=0

For explanation I would say: Line 4x+y=2 has slope -4. Line parallel to it has slope -4 and pass through (2, 5) so equation will be y-5 = (-4) (x-2) => 4x+y-13=0
