What is the relation between maximum allowed cone angle and wedge angle for attached shock wave?

The question was posed to me during an interview for a job.

My doubt stems from Physical Aspects of Supersonic Flow over Cones in section Linearized and Conical Flows of Aerodynamics

The correct answer is (b) (θmax)wedge > (θmax)cone

The explanation: Due to the three-dimensional relieving effect, for a particular freestream Mach number, the maximum cone angle allowed is larger than the maximum wedge angle before the shock wave becomes detached.
