Which of the following is an inhibitor of apoptosis?

(a) Caspase

(b) IAP

(c) SMAC

(d) DIABLO

I got this question during an internship interview.

This interesting question is from Apoptosis and Cancer in chapter Cancer Biology & Methods in Cytogenetics of Cytogenetics

The correct option is (b) IAP

The explanation is: Caspases are the effectors of apoptosis. IAP binds to the caspases thus preventing apoptosis from taking place. Smac and Diablo bind to IAP thus inhibiting it so they are also pro-apoptotic.
