When a hemisphere is placed on H.P such that the flat surface is perpendicular to V.P and inclined with horizontal then the front view will be ____________

(b) circle

(c) ellipse

This question was posed to me in an online quiz.

My doubt stems from Projection of Spheres topic in chapter Projection of Solids of Engineering Drawing

The correct choice is (a) semi circle

The best explanation: The flat surface of hemisphere will have section of circle with radius equal to radius of sphere. Here the hemisphere is placed on H.P so that its flat surface is inclined to H.P so it gives semi circle from front view and ellipse from top view.
