I got this question by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

Question is taken from Sections of Prisms in chapter Section of Solids of Engineering Drawing

Right answer is (a) hexagon

The best explanation: Prisms are obtained by extruding required shape up to some appreciable length so there exist same cross-section along the length perpendicular to axis. If the cutting plane parallel to axis we get a rectangle.
