I got this question in class test.

Question is taken from Sections of Cylinders in division Section of Solids of Engineering Drawing

The correct option is (b) circle

To explain: Cylinder is formed by rotating the rectangle about one of its sides which is said to axis further. So if the cutting plane is parallel to axis the section formed is rectangle and if plane is perpendicular to axis it gives circle.
