Which method can be used to distinguish between the two types of carriers?

I have been asked this question by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

My question is taken from Properties of Semiconductors in division Semiconductors of Engineering Physics II

Correct choice is (a) Hall effect

For explanation: When a conductor carrying current is placed in a transverse magnetic field, an electric field is produced inside the conductor in a direction normal to both the current and the magnetic field. This phenomenon is known as the Hall Effect.
