A square pyramid is placed on H.P on its square base and section plane is perpendicular to V.P and parallel to H.P and cutting the solid. The section will be ______________

I had been asked this question during an internship interview.

The correct choice is (a) square

Easy explanation: If a pyramid is cut by a plane perpendicular to its axis section gives the base shape or parallel to axis and also parallel to any edge of base then the section formed will be trapezium if the section plane not parallel to edge of base then the section will be a triangle.
