A cylinder is placed on H.P on its base and section plane is parallel to V.P cutting the solid the section gives ______________

(c) rectangle

I got this question in an internship interview.

My question is based upon Sections of Cylinders topic in section Section of Solids of Engineering Drawing

The correct choice is (c) rectangle

To explain: Cylinder is formed by rotating the rectangle about one of its sides which is said to axis further. So if the cutting plane is parallel to axis the section formed is rectangle and if plane is perpendicular to axis it gives circle.
